Ayaz Memon has been a journalist for more than 37 years. A graduate in economics and law from Mumbai University, he started off as a sports writer and went on to edit newspapers Mid-Day, Bombay Times and DNA apart from being editor of Sportsweek, sports editor of the Independent and Times of India at various stages. He is now consulting editor with Network 18 and columnist with leading newspapers writing on sports, politics, cinema and social issues. Ayaz has covered over 300 Test matches, 400 One-Day Internationals, Cricket World Cups, 2006 Football World Cup, 1988 and 2012 Olympics, Wimbledon in 1991 and 1993, 1998 and 2010 Commonwealth Games and the 1990 Asian Games.
He has been a commentator on cricket at various times and has written two books on cricket and co-authored one on 50 years of India’s independence titled India 50 – The Making of A Nation.
