Kiran Nagarkar is a bilingual novelist, playwright, screenplay writer and political, social and literary critic. His novels in Marathi and English include Saat Sakkam Trechalis and Seven Sixes are Forty-three. He also wrote a play both in Marathi and English, Bed-time Story and an English screenplay, Black Tulip. His English novels include God’s Little Soldier and the Ravan and Eddie trilogy: Ravan and Eddie, The Extras, and Rest in Peace. Cuckold was awarded the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for best novel in English and considered the finest by an Indian novelist by Kushwant Singh.
Jasoda, Nagarkar’s latest novel, will be published in October 2017. He has been awarded many fellowships, two life-time achievement awards and Germany’s highest award, the Cross of Iron.
