She is a lawyer and human rights activist based in New Delhi. She is actively engaged with the women’s rights and human rights movements, and has appeared in landmark cases. She has done seminal research on impunity for targeted communal violence against religious minorities and accountability of the State in conflict zones. She has contributed to the drafting of laws prohibiting violence against women. Vrinda is a prominent commentator on jurisprudential issues relating to accountability for violence against women and other vulnerable groups. In 2013, The TIMES magazine featured her among the 100 most influential people in the world.
